How deep is the comal river for tubing?

The average depth of 3-4 ft, and calm flowing waters, makes it a fun place for everyone. A steady water flow with an average depth ensures a great tubing experience . Divers should consider the fact that only the lower half of the river is deep enough or void of obstacles to be suitable for diving.

Personal tubes are allowed on the Comal River as long as they do not exceed five (5) feet in diameter. Tubers may begin their float at Hinman Island Park or Prince Solms Park at the City Tube Chute. The float will last approximately 1.5 – 2 hours depending on the flow rate and the number of tubers in the water.

– Con’s: The Guadalupe River averages between 52 to 54 degrees almost year-round as the water being released from Canyon Lake Dam comes from the deepest part of Canyon Lake, around 130 feet Deep, which causes the cold water temperatures on the Guadalupe River below Canyon Lake Dam.

Alcohol & Food Items are Legal and are allowed on the Comal River while Tubing as long as they are in “non-disposable containers”.

Similar to another great river in Texas, the Comal, San Marcos River flow rate is also steady and enjoyable throughout the year, especially in the summer. The river’s flow rate tends to be around 150 to 250 cubic feet per second(cfs) in most parts.

Can I bring a keg on the river? Yes. A keg is not considered a volume drinking device or a disposable container, therefore it would be permitted on the water.

Landa Falls Offers the Comal’s first accessible entrance, making it the longest float in New Braunfels.

No jumping from bridges, dams, or trees into the Comal River. Coolers must have a clasp on the lid (zipper, Velcro, latch, cord) with a maximum size of 30 quarts and 1 cooler per person. Vessels on the Comal River may not be over 18 feet in length. Limit of two tubes per person.
