Before the role of Chewbacca took over his life, Mayhew was an orderly at a hospital in Surrey, England. He even remained at his job while filming the original trilogy and would not leave the role until after production had wrapped up.

Chewbacca’s voice was created by the original films’ sound designer, Ben Burtt, from recordings of walruses, lions, camels, bears, rabbits, tigers, and badgers in Burtt’s personal menagerie. The individual recordings were mixed at different ratios for Chewbacca’s different utterances.

He retired from playing Chewbacca for Health reasons, although his family recalled that for Mayhew’s final turn as the heroic Wookiee in “The Force Awakens,” he “fought his way back from being wheelchair-bound to stand tall” once more as the woolly character in the 2015 film.

Enter Peter Mayhew, a British actor who had been working as an assistant at a hospital prior to his casting. Mayhew, in the 1970s, was 7 feet 3 inches, which made him perfect for the role. Mix in the Wookiee language of throaty growls that he helped to perfect, and Chewbacca was born.

Krrsantan survived the battle. He and several other bounty hunters were secretly hired by Vader to find Aphra; dead or alive. He then met up with Vader on Anthan 13 with a squad of commando droids.

Mallatobuck (meaning “beautiful singer” in Shyriiwook), also known as Malla, was a female Wookiee from Kashyyyk. She was the wife of Chewbacca, and mother of their son Lumpawaroo. Malla had a brother named Vargi.
