Can after effect run on 4 gb ram?

After Effects might run with 4 GB or RAM, but as soon as you start importing files and adding effects to the project it will stall and you will get zero productivity. There’s no point on running a program that can’t do anything.

The minimum amount of RAM that After Effects needs to run is 8GB. However, Adobe recommends using 16GB of RAM. For my system I run 32GB of RAM which allows After Effects to run incredibly smooth. I have used some systems with 64GB of RAM, and the efficiency with which After Effects works is astonishing.

The problem is If your cache is stored on a slow hard drive-all your previews will be slow. To remedy this, most After Effects pros will re-direct their cache to a dedicated SSD drive (to understand differences between hard drives, see previous listing SLOW HARD DRIVES).

In addition to the Surface Book 2 and MacBook Pro, the Acer Nitro 5, Acer ConceptD, and HP ZBook Fury Are all good laptop choices for After Effects. Considering most computers come with 4GB RAM, 16GB will give you enough memory to do multiple things at once without the computer struggling. 16GB is enough for editing 1080p projects or 4K files with minimum effects.

For Premiere Pro the minimum amount of RAM for video editing is 8 GB. The recommended amount of RAM for editing 1080p HD video is 16 GB. And the recommended amount of RAM for editing 4K video is 32 GB.

Regardless of your operating system, your computer should have at least 1GB of RAM for editing standard definition and 2GB of RAM for working with high definition. Premiere Pro uses all available memory on your computer, and Adobe recommends not to use other applications when running CS3.

Improve performance by Optimizing memory cache settings

Allocate adequate memory for other applications. Enable caching frames to disk for previews by selecting the Enable Disk Cache preference. In After Effects, assign as much space as possible to the Disk Cache folder (on a separate fast drive) for best performance.
